So You Wanna Be A Beekeeper

Bees bring extraordinary gifts to humanity in the way of honey, beeswax, propolis and royal jelly, just to name a few. Beekeeping can be challenging at times but also rewarding and the management of them can reveal a small window into our complex and wonderful world. As a club we are here to answer your questions and to help the “newbees” to get a start in their new venture. Before you embark on your new venture you will need:

To consider the proper location.
Have a good source of information and or a mentor to help you get started. Beekeeping books and youtube.com are also good tools.
A bee suit, boots and gloves.
Hive box, frames with wax foundation, food and a smoker.
Approximately 3 lbs. of bees that are known to be of a non aggressive nature will make a good starter hive.

We have many beekeepers in our club from all over the valley that will be glad to assist you along the way.
